We’re getting there – Racela

As the San Miguel Beermen celebrated their PBA Commissioner’s Cup victory inside the confetti-filled Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday night, members of the TNT KaTropa silently headed for the exit to their dugout.

TNT point guard Jayson Castro reached the door to the dugout first but lingered awhile, waiting until all his teammates had gone in, giving each one a pat on the back and the arm.

The Tropa yielded to the Beermen, 115-91, in Game 6, but coach Nash Racela saw beyond the scores, lauding the efforts of his stalwarts against a more experienced opponent.

“It was definitely not the way we wanted it to end but ganun talaga eh, that’s life. Sometimes you plan for things, pero God knows better,” said Racela, whose team lost, 4-2, in the series.

The neophyte coach took the defeat in stride, saying San Miguel’s character was tough to crack.

“San Miguel played an almost perfect game,” Racela said. “When we really needed it the most, suddenly (it was them who) played really, really well.”
