Wangs use stunning 3rd-quarter run to rout Zark's
MANILA, Philippines – Wangs Basketball staged a scintillating display in the third quarter to coast to a 133-92 victory over Zark's Burgers for its fourth win in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Wangs had settled for a 56-50 lead at the halftime break, but clamped down on defense in the third period and capitalized on the Jawbreakers' miscues.
The Couriers turned Zark's 22 turnovers into 33 easy points, eventually scoring 46 points in the third period to head into the fourth quarter with a huge 102-62 advantage.
"Gusto talaga namin, no easy shots 'yung kalaban. Sumunod na lang 'yung opensa namin," said Wangs coach Pablo Lucas, whose wards improved to 4-3.
Fil-Am swingman Robbie Herndon scored 11 of his 26 points in the third frame, while also collecting six rebounds and five assists.
Michael Juico topscored the Couriers with 30 markers, 12 boards, and six dimes, while John Ambulodto had 16 points and six rebounds.
