Thunder gun for outright semis vs AMA Online Titans

MANILA, Philippines -  Soaring Flying V zeroes in on the first outright semifinal berth as it faces AMA Online today while Centro Escolar University tries to firm up its quarterfinal drive against Gamboa Coffee in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Thunder stormed into the playoffs with a 91-79 drubbing of the CEU Scorpions last week that stretched their impressive win run to seven. They aim to sustain their streak against the Titans at 5 p.m. and nail one of the coveted top two slots for outright berth in the Final Four.
CEU, meanwhile, tries to rebound from a previous loss and join Wangs Basketball at fourth at 5-3 as it collides with lowly Gamboa Coffee Mix at 3 p.m.

Jeron Teng of Flying V
Jeron Teng, who fired 22 of his game-high 30 points against the Scorpions, is again tipped to lead the Thunder along with Gab Banal, Hans Thiele, Eric Salamat and Thomas Torres.

“We cannot play to the level of our opponent. What’s important is we play our game and continue to improve and not be complacent,” said Flying V coach Eric Altamirano.

AMA is down at ninth with Gamboa with only a win to show in seven games and will need a gem of a game from its key players to upend a Flying V which gets better and strong each game.

The Scorpions, on the other hand, will again bank on Congolese Rod Ebondo, JK Casino and Orlan Wamar as they try to regain their winning ways against the Coffee Lovers.
