SBP, Blatche in talks on his possible FIBA Asia stint
MANILA, Philippines – There's no need to press the panic button just yet.
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas' Butch Antonio revealed that they're negotiating with big man Andray Blatche on his possible participation in the FIBA Asia Cup.
"We're in talks with Blatche," Antonio told the press. "I just cannot be sure until he's signed, until his signature is on the dotted line."
"I cannot confirm any participation, but Andray's group is in touch with us and very much ganado," he added. "He's anxious. He was saying, 'Basta give me a call and I'll be ready.'"
Antonio, SBP's deputy executive director and program director, also noted the unique set-up that Gilas was currently in, saying that there are two tournaments that will overlap.
"Kahit one game, it's still an overlap," he said. "You also have to take the welfare of the players into consideration here, na kung hindi naman mabugbog, hindi mo masunog."
