Rosser: TNT loss is a ‘little sweeter’
San Miguel forward Matt Ganuelas-Rosser said it’s a ‘little sweeter’ to see his former team TNT KaTropa fall short after the Beermen defeated the KaTropa for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“It feels a little sweeter,” said Ganuelas-Rosser with a laugh as he donned the team’s latest championship shirt that was soaked in water and beer as he celebrated with the rest of the SMB squad.
In a stunning move early this conference, TNT management moved the 6-foot-7 Ganuelas-Rosser to San Miguel – a rival company – in a trade for backup point guard RR Garcia.
The deal ended the former No. 4 overall pick’s stint with the Manny V. Pangilinan franchise since 2014, the year he was shipped to TNT after being selected by NLEX in the PBA Rookie Draft.
Ganuelas-Rosser won a championship with TNT during the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup, and was part of the team’s youth movement with players like Troy Rosario, Mo Tautuaa and rookie Roger Pogoy.
Though stunned with the trade, Ganuelas-Rosser said it motivated him, adding he cannot wait to return from a foot injury that sidelined him this conference to suit up in the season-ending Governors’ Cup as SMB aims to complete a second Grand Slam.
