Orcollo tops Cole Dickson 10-Ball anew
Former world champion Dennis Orcollo continued his impressive showing in US circuit, as he ruled the Annual Cole Dickson 10-Ball Championship for the second straight year at the Family Billiards in San Francisco, California.
The 38-year old Orcollo outclassed veteran campaigner Mika Immonen of Finland in championship round via an 11-8 decision.
Orcollo took home the $2,500 top purse while Immonen settled for the $1,600 consolation prize.
The Filipino cue master was actually relegated to the one-loss side in the tournament that employed a double-elimination format.
He lost to American Rodney Morris in the quarterfinals of the winner’s column.
But Orcollo came out firing in the loser’s bracket, scoring successive victories including against compatriot and legendary Francisco “Django” Bustamante and unheralded Foldes Wong.
Orcollo then met Morris again in the semifinals where the Filipino bet posted a 7-6 revenge against the American player.
