Mapua coach Atoy Co denies Oraeme transferring to NU
MANILA, Philippines – Mapua University head coach Atoy Co on Thursday vehemently denied reports that his former star center, Allwell Oraeme, has transferred to National University (NU).
It was reported last week that Oraeme, a two-time NCAA Most Valuable Player, was headed to the Bulldogs after deciding to sit out the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament.
However, Co said this was not true.
"It's a fake news. It's a fake news," Co told reporters after Mapua lost to University of Perpetual Help, 60-63, on their home court.
"Honestly, NU is not interested on getting Allwell," he revealed. "Hanggang doon lang ang masasabi ko. 'Yung reason, sa amin na lang 'yun."
"Pero ayaw ng NU. Especially, ayaw ni Mr. Manny Sy," said Co, referring to the Bulldogs' team manager.
