Kiamco tops West Coast 9-Ball tilt
Guangzhou Asian Games silver medalist Warren Kiamco overcame the twice-to-beat edge of his German foe in the finals to rule the 2017 West Coast 9-Ball Pro Challenge held at the California Billiards Mountain View in Fremont, California.
The 47-year old Kiamco stunned two-time world 9-ball champion Thorsten Hohmann in the finals to claim his first title this year.
Kiamco posted an 11-4 win in Game 1 then followed it up with another 11-5 impressive win in Game 2 to bag the $5,500 top purse.
Hohmann, the WPA World 9-Ball Championship winner in 2003 and 2013, settled for $3,500 consolation prize.
Dennis Orcollo, fresh from winning the 2017 Annual Cole Dickson 10-Ball Championship, finished fifth overall while Alex Pagulayan seventh and legendary cue master Francisco “Django” Bustamante ninth.
Orcollo got $775, Pagulayan earned $575 and Bustamante secured $400.
Kiamco earned a spot in the finals by trouncing American Corey Deuel, Pagulayan and Orcollo.
