Four teams shore up Q bids
Four teams in need of victories see action today as the PBA D-League Foundation Cup enters the crucial phase of the elimination round at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Wangs Basketball takes on Marinerong Pilipino in the 3 p.m. opener before Batangas battles Racal Motors in the other match set at 5 p.m.
These teams are locked in a tight battle for spot in the quarterfinals and can’t afford to sustain another loss at this point of the tournament.
Batangas is in fifth place with a 4-3 record followed by Wangs at 5-4 even as Marinerong Pilipino has climbed into contention following back-to-back victories to tie Racal Motors for seventh at 3-4.
Already assured of playoff seats are unbeaten Flying V (8-0), Cignal (7-2) and Tanduay (6-2) while Centro Escolar University (5-3) needs just one victory to punch its ticket to the next phase.
Batangas and Wangs are eager to get back on track after losing their previous games to Tanduay.
