Chot sends Standhardinger to dugout after 'cheap shot' vs Iraqi player
New Gilas Pilipinas player Christian Standhardinger got a dose of discipline from team coach Chot Reyes following a hit against an Iraqi players when the game turned physical toward the end of their game in the W. Jones Cup on Thursday.
Reyes ordered the Filipino-German to head straight to the dugout after he was assessed a technical foul following two deliberate shots against opposing players.
“I don’t like the extra stuff. There’s a fine line between being rugged and downright dirty. It’s not us,” Reyes said in the PBA website following their 84-75 victory against the Iraqis.
Standhardinger was having a hard time against Iraq and was limited to just 9 minutes.
His stay was shortened after he hit one Iraqi while Gilas was still up, 73-58, midway the fourth stanza.
It was at that point when Reyes called out his player.
