Champ Milan Melindo has strong words for next opponent

For his first title defense, world junior flyweight champion Milan Melindo will take on a battle-tested fighter who has already won 3 world titles.

Hekkie "The Hexecutioner" Budler of South Africa, who takes pride in being a highly durable fighter, is a former minimumweight champion and the current International Boxing Organization junior flyweight king.

Melindo, who knocked out Akira Yaegashi of Japan in just 1 round in May to capture the International Boxing Federation belt, isn’t worried about Budler.

"I feel no pressure for this fight. No matter how many fights he’s had, he’s never fought anyone like me. I want to advise him not to put his guard down, because then I might give him the first KO defeat of his career,” Melindo said in a report posted on Boxing Scene.

“I already fought some of the best world champions in the world, including Juan Francisco Estrada, so he (Budler) is no threat to me.”

Their title fight will take place in Cebu on September 16.
