Cainglet-Cayetano gets time to shine with Ateneo 'bagets'
MANILA, Philippines – Four years since she last wore an Ateneo de Manila University jersey, Fille Cainglet-Cayetano donned her old No. 15 again to face off against their archrivals, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, in the "Battle of the Rivals" at the Mall of Asia Arena last Sunday.
The game had considerably lower stakes for Cayetano, who was part of the veteran core fondly known as the "Fab 5" when she graduated at the end of the UAAP's 75th season. Together win Jem Ferrer, Gretchen Ho, Dzi Gervacio, and A Nacachi, Cayetano helped Ateneo reach back-to-back Finals, although in both instances, they lost to La Salle.
In a way, the "Battle of the Rivals" gave Cayetano the golden ending that she did not get in her collegiate career. Tasked to come off the bench by coach Tai Bundit as a service specialist, Cayetano scored one point – an ace – in the Lady Eagles' come-from-behind five-set win over the Lady Spikers.
"Mga bagets 'di ba, tapos nasama ako," said Cayetano, who was the most veteran among all Ateneo players, after the game. "Pero masaya. It's for a good cause, which is very good for everyone, and for the volleyball community."

In the game – which raised funds for the scholarship programs of both Ateneo and La Salle – Cayetano was reunited with Alyssa Valdez, Ella de Jesus, Denden Lazaro, and Amy Ahomiro, all of whom were either sophomores or juniors during Cayetano's final season.
