Banchero: Alaska gave up too many easy baskets to NLEX
MANILA -- Alaska found itself succumbing to its ninth straight defeat after losing its opening match against NLEX on Wednesday in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The losing skein dated back from the Commissioner’s Cup where the Aces tumbled out from the quarterfinals race with a dismal 4-7 record.
Fil-Italian guard Chris Banchero wasn’t amused, especially after seeing his team practically giving away baskets in their 104-112 loss.
“We’re just not playing defense,” Banchero, who finished with 11 points and eight assists against the Road Warriors, told FOX Sports.
“We’re giving up too many easy baskets. They’re just shooting layups and layups and layups all game, so obviously we need to fix that.”
Banchero admitted that it seems they have lost the defense Alaska was known for.
