70 boxers blacklisted by GAB for submitting fake CT scans
MANILA, Philippines – The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) announced that it has blacklisted and barred 70 boxers who submitted fake CT scan results.
In a statement, the chief of GAB's Medical Section, Dr. Radentor R. Viernes, said that irregularities were observed in the CT scans submitted by several boxers who have applied for professional licenses.
"Initial observation was antedated report from Cayetano Medical Clinic and CT Scan Center in Ibaan, Batangas. Review of all previous CT scan results from the said center showed repeating control numbers," Viernes revealed.
The owner of the clinic, Dr. Babette Cayetano, then informed the GAB medical team that the CT scans submitted "were fake and tampered."
The 70 boxers caught "will not be cleared medically to engage further in pro-boxing until appropriate actions has been undertaken," said Viernes.
