What does Denden Lazaro miss most about the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry?

MANILA, Philippines – Two years since she last played a UAAP game, former Ateneo de Manila University libero Denden Lazaro still has very fond memories of her collegiate career.

Lazaro earned the nickname the "Iron Eagle" for her ability – and willingness – to play through injury, most memorably in Ateneo's run to its first ever UAAP women's title in Season 76.

Denden Lazaro.
She graduated as a champion, helping the Lady Eagles win a second consecutive crown in Season 77 where they also finished with a perfect 16-0 win-loss record.

In both championship runs, the Lady Eagles went up against their archrivals, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, for what would be the third and fourth installments of a six-year saga between the rival schools.

So what does Lazaro miss most about the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry? Her answer may surprise you.

Lazaro will get a chance to relive that rivalry on July 16, when Ateneo and La Salle volleyball alumnae face off in the Battle of the Rivals, a charity match at the Mall of Asia Arena.
