TNT edges San Miguel in Game 1, thanks to Joshua Smith game-winner

Joshua Smith walked around with a limp through most of Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals on Wednesday.

That didn't stop the TNT reinforcement from applying the hurt on San Miguel Beer.

Smith scored the game-winning basket with 1.9 seconds left, helping TNT win 104-102 in the championship series opener at Araneta Coliseum.

RR Pogoy scored a personal conference-best 27 points and Jayson Castro added a near triple-double (14 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds) for TNT, which needed to dig deep late after holding a comfortable lead in the 4th quarter.

"I think what I got from Roger today are the normal things that we were getting all along," TNT head coach Nash Racela said.

"Siguro it was extra special (today) because he scored a lot, but again his defense was crucial and that's something that we always require of him."
