SMB All-Filipino unit remains lethal
The San Miguel Beermen are three-time PBA Philippine Cup champions, boasting of a starting unit best remembered for the epic “Beer-acle” performance.
In the last seven conferences, the Beermen have won four PBA championships – three of which are all in the Philippine Cup. They have yet to win the Commissioners Cup.
After three years, the Beermen are within two games from winning their first PBA Commissioners Cup. Such was in full display against TnT KaTropa for the past two games and the same is expected for the remainder of the series.
“Kasi matagal na kami magkasama. Alam na naming ginagawa ng isa’t-isa,” said Best Player of the Conference frontrunner Alex Cabagnot.
“I think that is a good thing for just us in going all-Filipino that kahit wala kaming import – even though we need an import because it is an import driven conference – hindi naman kami masyado dehado,” he added.
Despite the strong lineup, SMB’s success used losses as a learning experience to make them stronger through the years.
