Rhodes admit being out of rhythm in SMB's Game 1 loss
MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beer's Charles Rhodes knows he could've done more during the Game One loss to TNT on Wednesday night.
And he is well aware where he came up short.
"I just got out of rhythm. TNT did a great job on me and I got to do better," the American reinforcement said. "I didn't step up in the second and third. I let my team down."
Rhodes caught fire in the cardiac affair. He tallied 21 points in the opening salvo, giving San Miguel the tempo they needed against the quick KaTropa squad.
And then he got stuck in a rut. Rhodes, who has a smooth stroke from distance and can score at will at the post, was held scoreless in the next two periods. He poured 10 more in the final frame but that wasn't able to tow the Beermen past the gritty TNT who were drawing production from their rookie RR Pogoy and veteran Jayson Castro.
"You know I’m not gonna bash the referees but this is the finals," Rhodes offered. "You got to let us play. You know, the fouls I got in the second and third quarter affected the game. [It] threw my rhythm off, threw the team's rhythm off and I couldn’t get no scoring."
