Racela leans on faith as KaTropa march to PBA finals

MANILA, Philippines — TNT head coach Nash Racela had a totem going into Game Four of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup semis series against Barangay Ginebra.

And for 48 minutes, he clung to it—held on to it dearly up until the moment he delivered a victorious post-game presser--after he and his team slayed the Kings.

It was something that he needed to maintain a razor-sharp focus with a partisan crowd breathing down his nape. It was something that provided him comfort. It was something that gave him hope.

Hope that this time, they won’t blow a semifinal series lead. Hope that this time he sees this saga through.

“The whole game, I had this with me—my note. It’s just two things [on it]: number one, ‘Not the numbers that matter, but the Lord’s hand in favor of us,’” he shared. “The other thing that says here, ‘In the Lord’s presence, there’s fullness of joy.’”

“I know we’re going into this game facing a Ginebra crowd and lahat nung favor is on them. But it’s the Lord’s favor that matters,” Racela explained. “I feel today—just us keeping our focus, and our composure that really helped us a lot today. “
