PVL backs Phl teams’ SEAG bid
MANILA, Philippines - The Premier Volleyball League is throwing its all-out support to the national men’s and women’s teams competing in the SEA Games this August, shortening the Open Conference, which starts Saturday at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City.
Ricky Palou, president of the organizing Sports Vision, yesterday said the league’s top draw – Alyssa Valdez – will be allowed by her club Creamline to join the Nationals in the 17-day training in Japan starting mid July.
He also expects the other men’s clubs to allow their players to join their side of the SEAG buildup in Korea also next month.
The country is in the thick of preparations for the biennial regional meet slated Aug. 19-30 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It was Sports Vision, in partnership with Shakey’s, which revived the sport in 2004 and turned it to what it is today.
“I also think Creamline will allow Valdez to join the training in Japan and as well as the men’s players,” he added.
