Pacquiao: Patronizing Mayweather-McGregor fight up to fans

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao has no issue with the recently announced boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

After all, according to Pacquiao, the success of the fight will depend largely on the reception of fans.

“It's up to the fans if they are going to patronize or see the fight,” Pacquiao told Philstar.com on Thursday—via a text message relayed by his media officer Aquiles Zonio—from his training camp in General Santos City.

Mayweather and McGregor made headlines on Thursday after taking to social media to announce they are fighting each other on August 26. It will be a 12-round boxing match in an event set to make both personalities millions of dollars in purses.

The two fighters come from different disciplines, with Mayweather an accomplished boxer and McGregor a mixed martial arts expert fighting out of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

But in a boxing match, Pacquiao naturally sees Mayweather as having the upperhand.
