Lone Pinoy fighter in ONE Myanmar: Don't count me out
The only Filipino fighter included in ONE: Light of the Nation in Myanmar this Friday promised a surprise to Pinoy fight fans.
Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo is coming off a 10-month layoff and a two-fight losing skid. Aside from that, the Filipino striker expects to face a tough test against Brazilian grappling ace Bruno Pucci at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon.
“Don’t count me out yet because I am here to go back to the Philippines with the sweet win,” the Pinoy featherweight said.
Yabo has reason to be confident. Despite a professional MMA record of 5-4 (1 no contest), he boasts one of the best finishing percentages in ONE Championship’s featherweight division as his last five wins came by way of knockout.
His most impressive victory was when he knocked out Pakistan’s Bashir Ahmad in 21 second with a counter right hook in February 2016.
“My advantage coming into this fight is my experience. I have fought different caliber of opponents throughout my career,” he said.
