Jet Spikers shoot for semis spot, must get past Lady Falcons

MANILA, Philippines — Hair Fairy Air Force seeks to join Creamline and defending champion Pocari Sweat in the semifinals as it tackles an eliminated but dangerous Adamson Akari in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City Saturday.

The Lady Jet Spikers failed in their bid to advance to the best-of-three semis the last time out after absorbing a stinging 19-25, 19-25, 27-29 defeat, their second against four triumphs, to Myla Pablo and the Lady Warriors but could accomplish it today if they could hurdle the Lady Falcons in their 6:30 pm duel.

The Cool Smashers have made it to the playoff round the first with a pristine 6-0 (win-loss) record while the Lady Warriors followed suit after dumping the Lady Jet Spikers for their fifth victory in six outings.

Adamson Akari , although eliminated, has shown some fight in all their losses and could play spoiler to the hilt.

“We just need to play smart and not be overconfident against them (Adamson Akari),” said Hair Fairy Air Force coach Jasper Jimenez.

Hair Fairy Air Force is actually assured of at least a playoff for a semis berth but Jimenez doesn’t want any complication.
